The MoEns ensemble (till 2001 Mondschein ensemble), established in 1995, was created by a group of Prague-based performers and composers to be a permanent platform for the professional performance of contemporary music via a stable musical body. The aim of the ensemble is to present detailed and specialised interpretation of new works and, by so doing, to encourage the creation of demanding works for the ensemble. The Basis of the MoEns ensemble's repertoire incorporates is music written by the younger generation of the Czech composers.
This is
complemented by contemporary music from abroad and also by selected "classics"
of new music. In its projects the ensemble focuses on various personalities,
schools or contemporary music culture of other countries (e.g. Kagel, Reich, New
Complexity, Lithuania, Finland, Hungary, Japan). The ensemble commissions young
composers every year, and during 10 years of its existence gave more than 50
premieres. The musicians of the ensemble also regularly make recordings of Czech
contemporary music for the Czech Radio and CD companies. The ensemble has played in such contemporary music festivals as Fliesende Grenzen - Hamburg, the Prague Spring Festival, the Exposition of New Music - Brno, Melos Ethos - Bratislava, New Music Marathon - Prague,
Roaring Hooves - Ulanbaatar, Forum neuer Musik - Koeln, Dartington Music Festival, Weimarer Fruhjahrstage für Zeitgenössische Musik,
Klangspuren Schwaz, Trieste Prima. .

...The two ensembles (MoEns + Bohemia Saxophone Quartet) under
conducting of Miroslav Pudlak appeared very homogenous and played technically
faultlessly. … It was something undefinably refreshing, as those seven musicians showed unussual enthusiasm. Robert Nemecek – Kammermusik aus Ost und West – Ensemble – Düsseldorf 2004 …MoEns belongs to important elements of Czech contemporary musical scene. Like our Ensemble Modern or Ensemble Recherche it si formed by fist class musicians who are very familiar with problems of contemporary music and have experience with all sorts of compositions. Hanno Ehler - Musiktexte 101 –, Köln 2004 … Prague ensemble MoEns played with great intensity (…) and in Barton's Oasis and Pudlák's Aria presented pieces hardly classifiable into any historical time. The pieces by Barton and Pudlak, as well as those by their colleagues Graham, Nejtek and Ivanovic very effectively used repetitive patterns, tonal centres, statical timbre blocs, reminiscences to avant-guard and more. After all - a realistic experience of today's life. Neue Musikzeitschrift 4/2004 – Georg Beck: Neue Musik auf dem west-ostlichen Diwan The top event of the whole festival was the performance of Mondschein Ensemble conducted by Miroslav Pudlak. (Hospodarske noviny, May 23, 2002) Good quality performance and interesting repertoire. (Hudobny zivot, 12/2001, Bratislava) Ensemble Mondschein, which has been active for three years and which builds its position on the fringe of post-modern style, played on stage at the Prague Spring Festival concert in an excellent shape. (...) The presentation of contemporary music in this way was the best possible choice. (MF Dnes, May 23, 1998). The credo of Mondschein is to be a service to the contemporary music by a learned approach and the most precise interpretation. The artistic leader of the group, Mr. Kamil Dolezal, our best contemporary music clarinettist, seems to be is the right person to accomplish such a mission, as he is able to enrapture other musicians with his enthusiasm and thoroughness. (MF Dnes, March 5, 1997).
