Aleš Pavlorek: Lachian Pictures (world premiere)

On November 16 in the theatre hall of Metropol, České Budějovice, the South Czech Philharmonic gave world premiere to Lachian Pictures, a new piece by composer and clarinettist Aleš Pavlorek (*1971).

This suite for small orchestra drew inspiration from the Lachian folklore, which is manifested also in the titles of its four movements – Lachian Janáček, Lachian Yodel Songs, Lachian Metamorphoses and Lachian Leap. The predominantly tonal composition with traces of the Moravian modality was received very well by the audience. The programme also included Pavane in F-sharp minor, Op. 50 by G. Fauré, Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat major No. 10 (with soloists Ivo Kahánek and Jan Simon) by W. A. Mozart and Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in D minor by F. Poulenc. The orchestra was led a by a successful Greek conductor Zoe Zeniodi.
