Miroslav Srnka: Piano Concerto (Czech premiere)

Piano Concerto by Miroslav Srnka got selected as one of the pieces presented at Prague Radio Symphony orchestra’s last pre-Christmas concert which was held on December 19 in Rudolfinum. As the internationally best-known Czech contemporary composer currently, Srnka was a perfect choice for the evening which bore the title “Czech Traces In The World” and whose program included also Philharmonic Dances by Jan Novák and Bohuslav Martinů’s Bouquet of Flowers.

The concerto was written four years ago and given its premiere on 23rd November 2012 by Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and British pianist and contemporary music expert Nicolas Hodges. It was this player, whom Srnka dedicated the piece to, who now introduced it to Czech audience, together with Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra led by Tomáš Netopil. The concert was held as a part of the Bohuslav Martinů Days 2016 festival.
