Daniel Skála: Tickling (world premiere)

The fourth concert of this year’s MusicOlomouc festival took place on October 8 in the Corpus Christi Chapel of the Art Centre of Palacký University. It introduced Lichtzwang, Olomouc-based chamber ensemble founded last year, joined by Hungarian pianist Nóra Füzi.

The concert presented the premiere of a new piece by Ostrava-based “classical” cimbalom player and composer Daniel Skála (*1981). Written for an unusual instrumental combination of trumpet, violoncello, piano, cimbalom and theremin, Šimrání (Tickling) shall be played again before long during the Musicollage festival. The other pieces performed included From an unshot movie by Jiří Kadeřábek, Když vážkobdění vychmyřuje svit 2 by Marek Keprt and Mirrors by Hungarian composer Ádám Cser. Lichtzwang comprised of Marek Keprt (piano), Jan Přibil (trumpet), Jiří Fajkus (violoncello), Daniel Skála (cimbalom) and Eva Balcárková (theremin).
