The Ludwig van Beethoven Institute for Piano in Music Education at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna has opened the call for entries for the 7th Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition.
Composers are invited to submit works that combine artistic excellence with pedagogical relevance, offering young pianists creative access to the music of our time. Prize winners receive awards of €6,500, €4,500 and €3,500, and the winning compositions will be published by Universal Edition. The jury for the seventh edition brings together four leading voices in contemporary composition: Elena Mendoza, Isabel Mundry, Miroslav Srnka and Marco Stroppa.
