The Prague Trio of Basset-horns
| | |
 |

The Trio was established in the year 1995 and follows up the tradition of the Basset-horn Trio of professors of the Prague Academy of Music. Its aim is to present the basset-horn as an instrument of unusual technical as well as acoustic possibilities and to promote this instrument not only towards the music lovers from the Czech Republic but also abroad because in terms of its technical and expressional potentials, perfect instruments and selection of original compositions this Trio is really unique.
With its repertoire the Trio returns to the days of W.A. Mozart, who was perhaps the best at making use of the possibilities of this instrument in his compositions, and to the days of composers living in the same period.
The members of the Prague Trio of Basset-horns are top musicians - clarinettists, who are able to make ideal use of special features of this instrument and at the same time to keep style purity and style faithfulness of the original compositions.
The Trio has already introduced itself at many concerts, it was included into the regular cycle of the Czech Philharmonic and to the cycle of concerts held in the Agnes Convent in Prague. At present the Trio prepares new concert programmes which should present the basset-horn as an instrument used in both classical and modern as well as popular music. |
